Belford: A pioneer settler of the Neepawa district died at Kelwood Wednesday, January 19, in the person of William J. Belford. He was 82 years of age in October 20, 1915. He leaves, besides his aged widow, five sons and one daughter, also many grandchildren.
The sons are Rev. James F. Belford, M.A., Rector, St. Anne's Anglican Church, Richmond, Quebec, W. harry Belford of the editorial department fo the Manitoba Free Press, Winnipeg; Joseph W. Belford of Kelwood; Percival R. Belford, of Kelwood, now of the 79th Battallion at Brandon; and Rev. H. O. N. Belford, B. A., Rector of the Anglican parish of elgin, Manitoba and who is soon to remove to Danville, Quebec. Mrs. Thos. McKone of Kelwood is the only surviving daughter of the deceased.
The funeral was held on Friday, january 21, in the church of St. John-the-Divine, Kelwood, Rev. R. C. Pitts, Neepawa, officiating. The pallbearers were old pioneers of the Kelwood district who had known the deceased for many years. They were A. P. Petersen, Wm. McNarland, W. Bristow, Robt. Smith, Wm. Tramaine and Joseph Jackson.
The casket was carried from the residence to the church by the four sons of the deceased, all of whom were present except Rev. James F. Belford, of Richmond, Quebec. The son-in-law of the deceased Thos. McKone and a grandson, Pte. ? McKone of the 79th Battallion, Brandon, helped to carry the casket.
Interment was made at Kelwood Cemetery. Among the large number who crowded the church were numerous soldiers. One son and two grandsons of the deceased were in khaki. Besides these, the three sons of Rev. Jas. F. Belford were wearing the King's uniform. Pte. F. G. H. Jenkins, of the 79th Battallion, Brandon, who is the husband of a granddaughter of the deceased, was present; also wearing khaki, Pte. J. Brown of the 79th Battallion, Brandon, acted as usher at the church.
The deceased was born in Prince Edward County, Ontario but at an early age went with his parents to Brighton Township, Northumberland County where he lived until he was 53 years old, coming to Neepawa district in 1889, settling at Acton. Six years later he moved to Kelwood district, then known as Glensmith.
Next month the deceased would have been fifty years married. He married Joanna Orser at Picton, Ontario, who survives him at the age of 77. One sister, Sarah Belford and one brother, Henry Belford, reside at Codrington, Ontario."

A., Rector of the Anglican parish of elgin, Manitoba and who is soon to remove to Danville, Quebec. Mrs. Thos. McKone of Kelwood is the only surviving daughter of the deceased.
The funeral was held on Friday, january 21, in the church of St. John-the-Divine, Kelwood, Rev. R. C. Pitts, Neepawa, officiating. The pallbearers were old pioneers of the Kelwood district who had known the deceased for many years. They were A. P. Petersen, Wm. McNarland, W. Bristow, Robt. Smith, Wm. Tramaine and Joseph Jackson.
The casket was carried from the residence to the church by the four sons of the deceased, all of whom were present except Rev. James F. Belford, of Richmond, Quebec. The son-in-law of the deceased Thos. McKone and a grandson, Pte. ? McKone of the 79th Battallion, Brandon, helped to carry the casket.
Interment was made at Kelwood Cemetery. Among the large number who crowded the church were numerous soldiers. One son and two grandsons of the deceased were in khaki. Besides these, the three sons of Rev. Jas. F. Belford were wearing the King's uniform. Pte. F. G. H. Jenkins, of the 79th Battallion, Brandon, who is the husband of a granddaughter of the deceased, was present; also wearing khaki, Pte. J. Brown of the 79th Battallion, Brandon, acted as usher at the church.
The deceased was born in Prince Edward County, Ontario but at an early age went with his parents to Brighton Township, Northumberland County where he lived until he was 53 years old, coming to Neepawa district in 1889, settling at Acton. Six years later he moved to Kelwood district, then known as Glensmith.
Next month the deceased would have been fifty years married. He married Joanna Orser at Picton, Ontario, who survives him at the age of 77. One sister, Sarah Belford and one brother, Henry Belford, reside at Codrington, Ontario."
