Note: William Richardson Ames died Jan 21 1959. This would appear to refer to Village Lot 12 although it is not mentioned as such. Art Ames lived in the old Sutherland house at Lot 12 which he inherited from his mother.⁷ She lived on 24 May 1955 at Conc 9 Lot 1, Brighton Twp., Codrington, Northumberland Co., Ontario; Lot 1 Conc 9: Land Registry Records show that William R. Ames & wife transferred land to Ida Ames for life and after to son Aurthur R. Ames.⁷ She died in 1965 at Maple Haven Nursing Home, Belleville, Hastings Co., Ontario; Funeral notice in paper: Mrs. Ida Ames - Trenton- On Tuesday, Rev. H. M. Beach conducted a service in the Weaver Funeral Home for Mrs. Ida Ames of Codrington, who died in her 82nd year at the Maple Haven Nursing Home in Belleville last Saturday. Bearers were Edwin Quinn, John Postma, Wm. Moran, Wilfred Jamieson, Maurice Harvey and Robert Hazelwood. Interment was in McPhail's Cemetery. Born in Wooler, Mrs. Ames was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Gainforth. A life-time Codrington district resident, she was a member of Wooler United Church. She had been ill for the past five years. Mrs. Ames is survived by two daughters, Mina Ames of Belleville and Mrs. Everett (Bernice) Ellis of Wooler; two sons, Arthur of Codrington and Cecil of Petawawa and a grand-daughter Barbara Ames of Pembroke. She was predeceased by her husband, William in 1958.
