It's not known which of her four younger brothers it was but there were only three who were of age. Lewis Henry Fusee would have been 28, Charles Bartley 25 and James Anthony 17. The youngest Frank would have been just 6 at the time. It might even have been Thomas himself who was involved in the rebellion but more likely Melissa's brothers because her family was Métis. Because of this involvement at least one family member was wanted by the authorities and this was the reason Thomas & Melissa moved their family to the frontier of western Michigan.
