Palmateer, a prominent farmer of Novesta Township, departed this life, Friday, January 6, at one thirty 0'clock in the morning, after one week's illness from pneumonia. He recevied the best care and meidcal attention that could be procured. He was born in Canada, May 28, 1867, and was married to Miss Cecelia McMann in that country in 1882. to them were born five children, four sons and a daughter. His wife and sons survive him, but the little daughter, Gladys Mary, the pride and joy of his heart, was called away to the heavenly land feive years ago. He leave an aged mother, a sister, Mrs. T. Colwell, of Evergreen; two brothers, Alva, of Novesta, and Israel, of Elkland; also a brother and sister living in New York State. All were present at the funeral sevices excepting the last two mentioned. Mr. Palmateer came to Michigan about twenty years ago. He was a very ambitious man working both early and late and by honest toil has left his family in comfortable circumstances. He was a good husband and father and a neighbor who will be greatly missed. Rev. Emerick of Deford M.E. church spoke beautiful words of comfort at the home Sunday afternoon. It was impossible for all who attended to get into the house, many having to remain outside during the services. The remains were laid to rest amid beautiful flowers in Novesta Cemetery and many tears were shed at the thought of separation until "the day breaketh and the shadows flee away."
