"Late N. B. Gould - Mr. Norman Burr Gould, one of Port Hope's most respected and successful citizens passed peacefully away at his home yesterday afternoon after an illness of short duration. The deceased was born in Colborne, Ont., on March 3rd, 1848 and was in business successfuly in Norwood, Port Perry and Port Hope, and was also connected with Pratt Ltd., Sault Ste. Marie. During his twenty eight years residence in Port Hope, he conducted a successful mercantile business and acquired considerable realty. He took a keen interest in municipal affairs, and was a member of the Town Council for several years. On May 17, 1880, he was married to Miss Ida Adelaide, daughter of the late Geo. Barager, of Belleville. He belonged to the Independent Order of Forresters, and was a faithful member of the Baptist Church. In addition to his widow, he is survived by three daughters and two sons: Mrs. J. Frank Garfat, Toronto; Jay B. Gould, Port Hope; Miss Vera Estella, at home; Mrs. J. A. Hume, Port Hope; and George Irwin Gould, with the Motor Transport, 4th Canadian Division, in France. "Late N. B. Gould - Mr. Norman Burr Gould, one of Port Hope's most respected and successful citizens passed peacefully away at his home yesterday afternoon after an illness of short duration. The deceased was born in Colborne, Ont., on March 3rd, 1848 and was in business successfuly in Norwood, Port Perry and Port Hope, and was also connected with Pratt Ltd., Sault Ste. Marie. During his twenty eight years residence in Port Hope, he conducted a successful mercantile business and acquired considerable realty. He took a keen interest in municipal affairs, and was a member of the Town Council for several years. On May 17, 1880, he was married to Miss Ida Adelaide, daughter of the late Geo. Barager, of Belleville. He belonged to the Independent Order of Forresters, and was a faithful member of the Baptist Church. In addition to his widow, he is survived by three daughters and two sons: Mrs. J. Frank Garfat, Toronto; Jay B. Gould, Port Hope; Miss Vera Estella, at home; Mrs. J. A. Hume, Port Hope; and George Irwin Gould, with the Motor Transport, 4th Canadian Division, in France.
