He "Robert Gould Acquitted. MOOSE JAW, Dec. 4-(Special)-At to-day's Supreme Court, Robert Gould, late city storekeeper, was found "not guilty" on a charge of stealing lead valued at over $100 belonging to the city. The principal witnesses for the prosecution were Sidney Fouracres, late assistant storekeeper, and a man named Stone, assistant to Sam Tadmack, junk dealer. In pleading for Gould, W, E. Knowles said it was an everlasting disgrace to the city of Moose Jaw that the commissioner should stoop so low as to use a snake like Fouracres to damage the character of a decent citizen. The administration of public departments in this city had been a disgrace and further evidence of that was manifest when the police went through the accused's pockets while in jail and stole documents therefrom with which they hoped to bolster up the flimsy case of the city.
At the time his arrest was announced, Mr. Gould's many old friends and acquaintances in this district were dumbfounded and would not think him guilty. All will, we know, be glad to know of the verdict, at the same time feeling sorry that he should have been put to the expense and annoyance of defending himself." from pg. 015 of Newspaper Clippings, a collection donated by Shawnee Spencer to the Brighton Digital Archives, 2022. on 4 December 1914 at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.8 He appeared on the census of 1 June 1916 at 50 Fairford St. W., Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; Age 46 at 1916 Western Census: Gould, Robert Burr, 46, b.
