Each was so named because of the mills built by my Roblin UEL ancestors that became both their the focal point and chief revenue producer. My ggg grandfather, Philip Roblin ll built his mill at what became known as Roblin's Mills in Sophiasburgh Township. Philip's son Owen built his mill in Ameliasburgh Township. Canadian poet Al Purdy has made both the village of Roblin's Mills and Owen Roblin the subject of many of his poems. A book called 7th Town/Ameliasburgh Township: Past & Present, compiled by the 7th Town Historical Society, can provide the history of the village in Ameliasburgh Township named for Owen Roblin in the 1800's.
