Abraham was born in Poughkeepsie, fought in the Revolution, then came to Sophiasburgh among its first settlers. He was granted two hundred acres of land as a United Empire Loyalist, and his children also each received two hundred acres when they reached maturity. Abraham raised eight children, six sons and two daughters . His grandson, James B. Cronk, married Mintchie VanHorn, w hose grandfather, Cornelius VanHorn, came to Adolphustown in 1812. James and Mintchie lived in the house built by his father in 1805. James; son, Wellington, did not marry and continued living in his father's home.
