After she married Burton Hubble, on Oct 13, 1951, she became a full-time farmer's wife, driving tractors, getting in hay, and milking cows (sometimes by hand). She was also Burton's silent partner in the insurance business (The Co-operators) for 35 years.
Bessie and Burton also made maple syrup for over 40 years, helping to start the Maple Syrup Association in this area. For many years, there were school trips that made their way to the Hubble sugar shanty with Bessie making up hundreds of sample bottles of syrup for all to take home. When Burton took up fiddling at the age of 55, Bessie became his Social Secretary, arranging his schedule to play at different retirement homes with the musical group he started - Fiddlers and Friends. Bessie continued the group after Burton's death in March 2000 up until Covid came along. She enjoyed singing the closing number, Smile A While, on Thursdays at Hastings Manor.
