Mr. Jaques is survived by sister Mrs. Flossie Sherwin, Warkworth and is predeceased by brother Harry Jaques, late of Campbellford. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mr. Jaques was a retired harnes maker and clerk salesman with Graham Hardware Store. He was a member of the United Church. The Brighton Odd Fellow's Lodge #362 of which Mr. Jaques was a life member, held a memorial service at R.W. Mackey Funderal Home, Brighton, on Thursday at 7:15 pm. The funeral was held January 6, at 1:30 pm from R.W. Mackay Funderal Home. Mr. Jaques is resting at Mt. Hope with spring interment at Woods Cemetery. The Rev. F. "In the late 1800's, when a lucrative market developed overseas for fresh apples, a new industry took shape. Hundreds of acres of orchard were planted. Apples were placed tightly in wooden barrels, right in the orchards, for their long trip on merchant ships to Liverpool, England, and Glasgow, Scotland. A barrel held the equivalent of three bushel hampers, and would weigh about one hundred twenty pounds. A number of cooperage (barrel making) shops were in Brighton. Fred Jaques was reported to be an excellent cooper.
