A young man named Fred Mutton, son of Mr. John Mutton, Cramahe Township, Northumberland County, was killed in an explosion in the mine. The young man had been sent to clear out a chute which had become choked. He lived just six hours in an unconscious state. His brother, Joe, had the body place in a coppe lined casket and, after twelve wearisome days and nights, brought it to Shiloh burying grounds, to be buried in the family plot. Rev. R. T.
