He was a teacher for three years at Orland, seven years at Oakville, and was credit manager for Beatty Bros. in Fergus for some time, before coming to Muskoka. He taught for a couple of years at the Reay School. Before launching his own business in Gravenhurst, Mr. Montgomery was for awhile with the Department of Travel and Publicity. Active in politics, he was campaign manager for Honorable Arthur Wels and James M. Macdonnell. Mr. Montgomery leaves his wife, the former May Tupniak of Gravenhurst, and three sons, Keith, Hugh and Malcolm, and daughter Margaret. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. James Ferguson (Irene), of Arnprior, and Mrs. Don Burke (Mabel), of Brighton." (Tweedsmuir Histories, Reel 2)
