M, b. circa 1795, d. March 1846
| Father | George Strevel b. Jan 1768, d. c 1855 |
| Mother | Elizabeth ? b. c 1770 |
John Milton Strevel was born circa 1795 at New York, U.S.A; Location NY per Tobey Book - see Residence Tag, 1818. Per Will.1 He lived in 1818 at Cramahe Hill, Cramahe Twp., Northumberland Co., Upper Canada; "In 1818 M. Strevels from new York State came to live near Reverend Webster. The Ensign of March 20, 1896 in speaking of Mrs. Richmond the daughter of M. Strevils said: Mr. M. Strevils moved to Cramahe Hill, a few miles back of Hilton, from New York State about 1818 with a family of 11 children. The country was new with forests only partly cleared from the land and the roads running through the woods in many places without any regard to road allowance. The early settlers living there about that time were Joshua Webster, Captain Stephens, William Dunnett, Charles Becker, John Simpson, Timothy Olmstead, Jas. Smith, David Shears and Joshua Morden." pg. 71, The Tobey Book, Brighton Public Library, June 1, 2004.
Note: This would seem to refer to George Strevels who immigrated to Cramahe Twp. around 1818 and lived west of Codrington. His son Milton (the M. Strevels refered to here) died in 1846. His sister (daughter of George) married Sylvester Richmond of Hilton. I wonder if George Strevels had a middle name M. or were these folks mistaken about the generations?1 He The piece in The Toby book regarding the death of "Mr. M. Strevil" may be a bit confusing. It says he came " ... from New York State about 1818 with a family of 11 children. ... ". This probably refers to George Strevels, the original settler of this name in Cramahe Twp. and father of John Milton Strevels. Other information shows that Milton Strevels died in 1846. The piece in The Toby Book is on page 70, in the large section covering the early 1800's - before it starts to be organized by year - starting with 1850. His father, George, is shown in the 1851 Census, age 84, with Milton's widow, Elizabeth. (Dan Buchanan, Jan 9 2011) in 1818 at Upper Canada. He married Elizabeth Stewart in 1819 at Upper Canada; per GEDCOM of Cheryl Kemp Taber, Jan 9 2011.2 John Milton Strevel appeared on the census of 1839 at Cramahe Twp., Northumberland Co., Upper Canada; 1839 Census: Milton Strevels; no numbers? ITS Date: Apr 3 1841. Reg'n. Date: Aug 7 1841.
