She met her husband James Milton Ames in Kenora and they were married at the Notre Dame Church on the 25th of August 1936. They had five children: Joan (Richard) Degagne of Galt, California; Marion (Brian) Leroux of Kenora, Ontario; Geraldine (Alan) Tunney of Ottawa, Ontario; Robert (Linda) Ames of Burnaby, B. C. and Jim (Andrea) Ames of Kenora, Ontario. ... Rose and her husband lived a number of years in the Norman area before moving to Kenora and they eventually settled in at the Gardner Block were they lived for the past several years. ... Mom is survived by her sister Leah Miscavish in McCreary, Manitoba. She also leaves to mourn her five children, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. ... "Mrs. Mary Ann Austin - There passed away late yesterday one of the aged residents of our city in the person of Mrs. Mary Ann Austin, the beloved mother of Mr. Walter Austin and Miss Phoebe Austin of Weller St. Born in the neighbouring county of Prince Edward of one of the early pioneer families of that famous county, she had passed her 94th birthday by some three months. Soon after her marriage, Mrs. Austin came with her husband to Northumberland County, settling in Murray township when it was a wilderness. Here thirty years of her early married life was spent. Afterwards for a number of years she lived in Belleville and Brockville, coming from the latter place to Peterborough some ten years ago. The last five years the deceased had been confined almost entirely to her home through weight of years. In religion Mrs. Austin was a Methodist and during her early years her home was always a centre of activity, the minister and church workers being always welcome guests. Her husband, Mr. Benjamin Austin predeceased her some twelve years. She leaves to mourn her loss three sons and one daughter, Rev. Dr. R. F. Austin of Los Angeles, California; Manley Austin of Theodore, Saskatchewan; Walter C. Austin and Miss Phoebe Austin of this city. "Mrs. Mary Ann Austin - There passed away late yesterday one of the aged residents of our city in the person of Mrs. Mary Ann Austin, the beloved mother of Mr. Walter Austin and Miss Phoebe Austin of Weller St. Born in the neighbouring county of Prince Edward of one of the early pioneer families of that famous county, she had passed her 94th birthday by some three months. Soon after her marriage, Mrs. Austin came with her husband to Northumberland County, settling in Murray township when it was a wilderness. Here thirty years of her early married life was spent. Afterwards for a number of years she lived in Belleville and Brockville, coming from the latter place to Peterborough some ten years ago. The last five years the deceased had been confined almost entirely to her home through weight of years. In religion Mrs. Austin was a Methodist and during her early years her home was always a centre of activity, the minister and church workers being always welcome guests. Her husband, Mr. Benjamin Austin predeceased her some twelve years. She leaves to mourn her loss three sons and one daughter, Rev. Dr. R. F. Austin of Los Angeles, California; Manley Austin of Theodore, Saskatchewan; Walter C. Austin and Miss Phoebe Austin of this city.
