For three years Mr. Austin has been in failing health, but in the last four months has gone down rapidly. The late Mr. Austin is the youngest of a family of four sons and two daughters. He was born about 61 years ago near Codrington in Brighton township, county of Northumberland, and was the son of Benjamin F. Austin and Mary Ann McGure. His mother predeceased him five years. He spent the early part of his life near Codrington and later graduated in Arts from Albert College of Belleville, then Albert University. For many years he followed the teaching profession, occupying the position of principal of Brockville Business College for a number of years. Since then he has been engaged in insurance and real estate. In 1884 he married Alice M. Hicks, the youngest of the family of Philip Dulmage Hicks, one of the pioneer families of the Bay of Quinte district. After spending over thriteen years in Brockville, the family moved to Montreal and two years later to Peterborough where they have resided for more than 19 years. He leaves to mourn his loss his sorrowing widow, two brothers; Rev. Dr. R. F. Austin of Los Angeles, California; Manly Austin of Theodore, Saskatchewan; one sister, Phoebe of Theodore and four children, Corp. Frank Douglas Austin, B.
