William Jenkins was born in 1800 at Quebec; Date 1800 & location Quebec per Death Registration. Location LC per 1861 Census. Date 1800 & location Quebec per James Blaine Doxsee Family Tree on ancestry.com, Dec 5 2016.1,2 He lived circa 1830 at Demill at Solmes Street, Northport, Prince Edward Co., Ontario; "SO-15;; Jenkins/Frape House c. 1830; Demill Street at Solmes Street.... Of the three buildings wedged into the intersection the Jenkins/Frape House, built c. 1830, is probably the oldest. Right away, an early date is suggested by the front entrance. When the sidelights are immediately adjacent to the doorcase but are not enclosed by its pilasters, it usually dates a building from before 1830 for this was a late eighteenth and early nineteenth century treatment." from "Settler's Dream", page sent to me via email by Tom Cruickshank, co-author of the book in 1984.
Email: "Hello Dan...Just finished reading your book on Dr. King (love those local histories) and thought I'd bring your attention to a little gem of information that you might not already know. (Then again, you may already know this, so just consider this a fan letter). In the early 1980s, I was hired by the County of Prince Edward to photograph and document its older buildings. I lived in a farmhouse between Northport and Solmesville. The study was the County's bi-centennial project and became the basis of a book called the Settler's Dream. It's still available (I think) and if not, it's in most every local library. As I read your Dr. King book, the name Jenkins and its connection to Northport stuck with me. Just now, I looked it up in the Settler's Dream and found, sure enough, a Jenkins house in the village of Northport. I always admired it because it is exceptionally old (c.1830). Judging by the name of the builder (William Jenkins), his profession as a shoemaker, this has to be the home of W H King's grandfather, don't you think?? Am I right? I haven't been to Northport for years, but last I looked, the house was still standing. I hope this adds something new to your research. Below is a pdf excerpt copied out of The Settler's Dream.
