     John McColl was born circa 1835. He married Maria Wait, daughter of Smith Isaac Wait and Almira Helenbolt, circa 1874 at Haldimand Twp., Northumberland Co., Ontario; The Memorial of Maria Wait shows that she was the wife of John McColl. There seems to be nothing to support this other than the name on the memorial. Looking closely, we see that John J. McColl (1836-1910) lived in Haldimand and was widowed in 1873, leavikng him available and in the aera at the time to make a marriage to widow Maria Eddy possible in 1874. Maria died in 1876.
