William Pierce was born in 1787 at England; Date 1787 per Memorial & FindaGrave & CemSearch. Location England per 1891 & 1921 Census - son John Pierce. Location England per Death Reg'n. of son Alexander Pierce in Michigan 1923. Location England per 1891 Census os Sarah Pierce - married Lewis Palen. Location England per 1900 US Fed Census for son Alexander Pierce. Location Ont. per 1891 Census for sons Samuel & Robert. Location England per 1880 US Fed Census for son Alexander Pierce. Note: Still looking for any evidence that this William Pierce is a son of Patricl Pierce. Lots of trees in ancestry.ca say so, but there seems to be mixing of families. Love to see some kind of document that supports William's connection to Patrick.1,2,3,4,5,6,7 He married Anna Winch, daughter of Samuel Winch and Elizabeth Maynard, on 23 July 1808 at Marysburgh Twp., Prince Edward Co., Upper Canada; per family tree of JRS06002 on ancestry.ca, Jan 24 2020.1 William Pierce "Name: William Pearce; Rank: Private; Service: Sep 25 to Oct 24 1813" taken from "Muster Roll and Pay List of the Prince Edward Seentary Militia, Capt. Henry MacDonell's Company of Embodied Militia from the 9th to the 17th October 1813 inclusive (167)." https://sites.rootsweb.com/~saylormowbray/militaryPEvarious1812.html
Note: William Pearce is the only one of this family named in the militia lists. His father, Patrick Pierce, would have been 59, so too old to serve, but, if he was alive and well enough, I'd expect his name to be on the list. This suggests that Patrick Pierce had died by the War of 1812. on 24 October 1813 at Prince Edward Sedentary Militia, Prince Edward Co., Upper Canada. He "Name: William Peares?; Service: (Q) Oct 25 - Nov 24 1813" from Muster Rolls and Pay Lists of the Prince Edward Militia under Captain Owen Richards 1812 - 1814 (https://sites.rootsweb.com/~saylormowbray/militaryPErichards1812.html)

He lived on 22 September 1842 at Lot 3, North Shore Smith's Bay, Marysburgh Twp., Prince Edward Co., Upper Canada; Land Registry Records (B&S 3822) show that John Auldjo? sold 200 acres of Lot 3, North Shore of Smith's Bay, Marysburgh Twp., to William Pierce. ITS Date: Sep 22 1842 (Ontario Land Registry Records retrieved from Onland, North Marysburgh, Prince Edward Co., Sequence 77, page 120 of 154, Feb 28 2020)
Note: Alexander Auldjo was a wealthy merchant who had been in Montreal until around 1803 and then went back to England. Letters to him are part of the documentation for the mourning that happened in York after the loss of HMS Speedy in October 1804. He died May 1821 and we can see that his son, John, sold lots his father had purchased as investments.8 He lived on 27 September 1842 at Lot 3, North Shore Smith's Bay, Marysburgh Twp., Prince Edward Co., Upper Canada; Land Registry Records (Mort. 374?) show that William Pierce took out a mortgage on Lot 3 from John Murney. ITS Date: Sep 27 1842 (Ontario Land Registry Records retrieved from Onland, North Marysburgh, Prince Edward Co., Sequence 77, page 120 of 154, Feb 28 2020.)8 He lived on 23 August 1844 at Lot 3, North Shore Smith's Bay, Marysburgh Twp., Prince Edward Co., Upper Canada; Land Registry Records (B&S 489) show that William Pierce sold 100 acres of Lot 3 to Robert Pierce. ITS Date: Aug 23 1844. (Ontario Land Registry Records retrieved from Onland, North Marysburgh, Prince Edward Co., Sequence 77, page 120 of 154, Feb 28 2020.)8 He died on 29 February 1860 at Marysburgh Twp., Prince Edward Co., Canada West; Date Feb 31 1860 per Memorial. Not sure what this is based on. Most records show William Pierce born in England in 1787 so not UEL. More info needed. circa June 1784 at Loyalist Landing, Quebec.1 He lived on 16 June 1784 at Marysburgh Twp., Prince Edward Co., Quebec; "Chapter 3: The Pierce Family Tree; The earliest Pierce in Prince Edward County was listed on the Master roll, No. 16, of the 5th Township, North Marysburg, on October 4, 1784; Patrick Pierce

He lived on 11 August 1784 at Fifth Township on Bay of Quinte, Quebec; Haldimand Papers: Return of the disbanded troops and Loyalists settled in Township No. 5 Bay of Quinte, 4 Oct 1784' Name: Patrick Pierce; Males: 1; Total 1; Date of Certification: August 11 1784; Acres Cleared: - ; Remarks: Expected up this fall & at Cataraqui in the Engineers Works" (The Haldimand Papers, Canadian Heritage, H-1655, Roll 35, "British Library (Formerly British Museum), Haldimand Papers, Muster Rolls, Accounts, etc., relating to the Corp of Loyal Americans, n.d. 1776-1785, MG 21, add. mss. 21828, 74-78, image 171 (Title) to 176, 12th from bottom. http://heritage.canadiana.ca/view/oocihm.lac_mikan_105513)
Note: This document suggests that Patrick Pierce was disbanded from service in 1784 and was in Marysburgh Township at that time, with no family. Note that he is not called a Loyalist here, but a dispanded solider. Remarks say he and Freman McDonald are expected up this fall, meaning to Kingston for the engineer works. He married ? ? circa 1785; There is no mention of a wife's name for Patrick Pierce in any of the documents I have seen. The children are shown by records to be born in England so it could be that Patrick went back to England after the war, got married, had some kids, then came back to Canada. His thought may have been that he was elligible for land grants in Upper Canada due to being a soldier at the end of the war. (Dan Buchanan, June 1 2020)

Alive in 1790 on list. Lot 8, Concession 1." from "The Pierce Family History", copy given to me by Lindi Pierce, March 2 2020.
Note: Need to find which concession this refers to; on Belden Counties Map of 1880, concessions are named per location re bodies of water. There are several Lot 8's.
Note: The 1863 Tremain Map, before division of Marysburgh Twp. into north and south, the concessions of the penninsula containing Vessy and are called "I Conc .. " then the name by location re water. He lived on 3 December 1798 at Conc 1 Lot 8, Marysburgh Twp., Prince Edward Co., Upper Canada; Land Registry Records (Patent) show that Patrick Pierce and W. Andrews received the Grant from the Crown for all 200 acres of Lot 8, Conc 1 (Lakeside west of Cape Vessey). ITS Date: 3 Dec 1798. (Note: As with most of these very early records, the dates are very difficult to make out. One might debate the 8 as a 1 or 0, but looks to me like an 8. The names are not totally clear, but Patrick Pierce is quite obvious. W. Andrews is less certain, may be Anderson?? I look at the next item which clearly shows William Andrews for a clue.)
Note: What might have happened here? Patrick Pierce and William Andrews received this Crown grant in tandem, it seems. What is that about? It casts further doubt on the presence of Patrick Pierce in Marysburgh in these early years. Many records say his kids were born in England. ????3 He Canadian Genealogy Index, 1600s-1900s: Name: Patrick Pierce; Event: Living; Year: 1700-1799; Province: Ontario; Source: The Centennial of the Settlement of Upper Canada by the United Empire Loyalists 1784-1884. His father, Patrick Pierce, would have been 59, so too old to serve, but, if he was alive and well enough, I'd expect his name to be on the list. This suggests that Patrick Pierce had died before the War of 1812.
The last document we have for Patrick Pierce is the Crown Patent for Lot 8 on Dec 8 1798. If his birth year was 1754, that makes him 44 at the time of the patent. There is nothing for him after that.
Note: This is assuming that Martha Pierce (1810-1899) who married Alexander Shannon is a daughter of William Pierce and not of Patrick. The Pierce Family History says she was born 1800 and is a daughter of Patrick, but other sources say she was born 1810 and is William's eldest child - which seems to be more reasonable. Would have to see something specific to go counter to that.3
