There seems to be nothing to support this other than the name on the memorial. Looking closely, we see that John J. McColl (1836-1910) lived in Haldimand and was widowed in 1873, leavikng him available and in the aera at the time to make a marriage to widow Maria Eddy possible in 1874. Maria died in 1876. This is shear speculation, but works in all sorts of ways re proximity and dates. Need a marriage registration or something to support it.
