On the 9th of July, 1811, James McTaggart Jr. and Pheobe Way settled on Lot 1, Concession 3 in 9th Town (Thurlow) Hastings County, where he lived out his life and died April 16, 1881. A Quaker by religion, his last years were spent in darkness having gone blind. I have not found their burial place but I would suppose it would be on Lot 1, in the 4th Concession just a short piece from his home, as I find a Quacker Meetinghouse and Cemetary marked on the map, but going past there last year (1972) there is no sign of anything of this nature. "The research I'm trying to solve are the parents of my GGG Grandmother Catherine Chisholm (1782-1859), wife of Benjamin Way (1780-1870), who's father Daniel (1743-1829) was the Way pioneer who came to Prince Edward County in 1789. Daniel travelled to Upper Canada with his wife, Jemima Kilburn, and his sons, James and Samuel. James married Sarah, the daughter of the Abrahan Cronk who had built the stone house at the east end of the Sophiasburgh road.
