He "Just back from having spent a few hours with the 90 year old widow of a first cousin of my mother who knew all the details of a boy adopted by the Ames. His name was Fred Hardy Ames and he was the biological son of Garnet Hardy and Betty "Bessie" Dusenbury who also were the parents of Doris (Hardy) Darling and Helen (Doidge) Hardy. These girls were raised by their grandparents Harriet and Fred Hardy of Morganston, but the baby son was adopted by Betty Dusenbury's sister who was married to ? Ames who already had a son. Betty Dusenbury was incarcerated in the Whitby mental hospital as she suffered from severe postpartum neurosis and believed to be incurable. Fred Hardy Ames had a more than passing relationship with his sisters throughout his life (now deceased) and was described to me today as a shy, somewhat withdrawn individual whom my contact believed to have been a photographer and lived in the Oshawa/Whitby area. Helen (widow of Jim Doidge) resides in a nursing home in Woodstock, and Doris (widow of John Darling) lives with her daughter Ann in Frankford/Stockdale.
