She was born at the right time, and likely with her father George Wait in Ontario while he was there, she would probably have married Jonathan Gorham there. He was there in 1795, and their eldest son was born there. There was definitely a close relationship between the couple and the Waits. Her proposed brother Enoch, and his wife Sarah Salls, named a daughter Hannah Paulina Gorham Wait. Sophia Wait and husband Jonathan Gorham named a daughter Sarah Paulina Wait Gorham. After years of trying to prove this, I can find nothing additional that would discount the theory.1,2 She was the daughter of George Wait and Elizabeth (?) Sophia Wait married Jonathan Gorham before 1795. Sophia Wait died on 27 July 1842 at Huntingdon Co, Quebec.1 She was buried at Union Church Cemetery, Havelock, Huntingdon Co, Quebec.
