North Marysburgh on August 25, 1918, to Clarence and Viola (McComoek) Pierce. He was a lifetime resident of Prince Edward County, farming on Bayside until 1970, then working lor McFarlands and Hallowed House, finally retiring two years ago as caretaker of Talbot Gardens, where he and Doris resided until their move to the McFarland Home in June. Ralph is survived by his son Eric Pierce of London, daughter. Linda Pierce of Belleville, grandson Brent of Ottawa, and his brother Norman of Bloomfield. He is predeceased by his sister Ruth Phelan of Collingwood and brother Elmo of Kingston, and his parents Clarence and Ola. A memorial service was held at Whattam's Funeral Home on Wednesday January 15 at 2 p.m. with Reverend Audrey Whitney officiating. Grandson Brent read Scripture lessons from Isaiah and Psalms. The Glenora United Church choir sang ‘Abide With Me’. Ralph’s children offered words Of remembrance, recalling their father’s hard work and integrity, his determination and pragmatism, and his good stewardship of the land, both on the farm and in his legacy of many “well planted trees.” A reception was held at the Glenora United Church hall. The ladies of the Glenora United Church Women provide a generous luncheon. Ralph’s health declined rapidly after the death of Doris, his wife of 57 years. His children take comfort in their belief that he is reunited with his life’s partner.
