Proctor (grandfather.)4 He "One summer morning as we were swimming, a plane landed nearby - the undercarriage struck a stake at the water's edge used to picket horses, and flipped over on its back in the shallow water and the pilot climbed out. A light breeze was blowing off shore and the plane drifted into the lake. Mrs. Auston, a widow and cousin of Dad's was visiting with her two sons, Charlies 14 and Jack 12. We all helped pull our rowboat into the lake and Charles Auston and the pilot took off after the plane. Just as they reached the front of the plane it tipped tail up in the air pinning Charlie and the boat underwater - the pilot climbed up on the tail and we watched for an hour until another boat and men could be found. By this time Charley Auston had drowned. Six months leter, Mother had her last baby and named him Auston Wright Proctor. It was at this time that we came to know the famous tango Dance team of Irene and Vernon Cassels." from John W. Proctor AutoBIO, pg. 13
