DEATH OF CHARLES McCAMBRIDGE
Charles McCambridge, a pioneer of this county, died last Monday at the family home of Shepherd street he and his aged wife occupied for so many years. He is survived by her and two sons - Andrew, a pattern make in San Francisco and Charles Henry of Sonora.
Mr McCambridge arrived in Tuolumne county in 1852, and followed mining with more or less success. Later he live din Columbia, where he became a member of Tuolumne Lodge No 21, IOOF. When a young man he learned the moulder's trade and later forsaking it, being an ardent lover of flowers for landscaping gardening, at which he was an expert. He served one term as Public Administrator and made an excellent officer. Whether in public of private life he was competent and amiable, as a consequence making many friends, all of whom sympathize with the venerable widow, herself quite ill,m and the two sons. The funeral was held Wednesday under the auspices of Sonora Lodge No 10 of Odd Fellows, a delegation from deceased's own lodge of Columbia also attending. Internment was made in Odd Fellows cemetery.
