CLIFFORD HOWARD (CLIFF) QUINN September 27, 1916 to September 13, 2008 With deep sadness, Cliff's children announce his death, peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of September 13 at Parkview Home, Stouffville, Ontario, two weeks before his 92nd birthday. He will be remembered with great love and affection by his wife Norah (Doherty), his children David Quinn (Catherine), Roseanne Quinn, and Cynthia Lagueux (George) and his brother Edmund Quinn. He was predeceased by our mother Geraldine (Cavalier), his sisters Marian Carter and Evelyn Chilton, and his brothers Bill, Don, Ted and Gord Quinn. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Kimberly Baldini (Rick), Karrie Allen (Adrian), William, Clifford, and Christopher Lagueux, and great-grandchildren Joseph, Jamie, and Kelly Baldini, Quinn and Zane Allen and his many nieces and nephews. Dad was also an important part of Norah's family who loved him as though he was a blood uncle. Cliff was primarily a farmer east of Castleton, Ontario, but over the years he was also a miner in northern Ontario and Quebec, School Board Trustee, Cemetery Board member, candidate for Reeve of Cramahe Township, Smith-Roles welder salesman, Cramahe Township Building Inspector, handyman for Harnden & King Construction, local history expert, and tree-feller extraordinaire. Most of all, Dad was a loving person to everyone he knew. He said ''We are put on this earth to help each other'', and he lived his life by those words. Whether it was helping his neighbours during hard times, helping to build a building, or cutting grass for family and friends, Dad was always putting others first. He was a ''kid magnet'' with a sly sense of humour, always patient and kind. He read voraciously on many subjects, and in recent years, as Dad often said, reading kept him sane as his physical health began to fail. He subscribed to National Geographic for over 50 years and told everyone it is the best magazine in the world. Dad's greatest love, aside from being with family, was to be in the woods with his chainsaw clearing dead trees. We thank everyone involved in Dad's care, but especially Dr. Andre Charest and the CCC Dialysis Unit at York Central Hospital and the staff at Parkview Home, for their loving and respectful care of Dad, and Dr. Patrick Wat, family physician, for his care of and friendship with Dad over the past 19 years. Cliff will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He had a long and wonderful life, and although those of us left behind are sad, he is in a better place. We will be forever grateful to Dad for his lifelong devotion to his family. Typical of Cliff's desire to help others, and his thirst for knowledge, he donated his body to the University of Toronto for research. A celebration of Cliff's life will be held in the coming weeks. Donations in Dad's memory to York Central Hospital's CCC Dialysis Unit or Tree Canada ( www.treecanada.ca ) would be greatly appreciated."
