Note: This specifically says Allen Hubbel, and his older brother Elijah did not have family to match these numbers, so we must take from this that Ezekiel Allen Hubble lived in Cramahe with or near his brother for a time at least. This is the only Cramahe census record to mention his name, although their father, Nehemiah, is shown to be in Cramahe according to 1807 and 1809 census records.² He lived on 7 March 1823 at Conc 2 Lot 19, Rawdon Twp., Hastings Co., Upper Canada; "An Affadavit dated Cramachi March 7,1823 states that Nehemiah alias Myer Hubble was living on Lot 20 concession 3 Rawdon and that he had lived there upwards of twenty years also that Elijah Hubble was living on Lot 19 Con 2 Rawdon and that he had lived there upwards of fifteen years.Surveyor General Ridout stated on Feb 4,1823 that these men were located on these respective lots. These two names are used interchangeably and the second line item shows Allen Hubble selling part of this lot. Note: We might see this as a process that took several years to develop a homestead in Rawdon. The family was probably in the area of Ernestown Twp. for a few years in mid- to late 1790s, coming to Cramahe Twp. before 1807 when both Nehemiah and Elijah appear in Cramahe census records. They may have gone up to Rawdon in the summer for a few years to build a cabin and clear some land, in preparation for the family moving there. The Patent for the land in 1823 is a formality; they were obviously living there well before that. However, how long some of them stayed in Cramahe and when they moved north permanently is uncertain. It is clear that older brother Elijah stayed in Cramahe. (Dan Buchanan, Nov 30 2020.)
