"LATE MAJOR SNELGROVE; Succumbed at St. Michael's Hospital to Paralysis of the Heart. (Dec. 23, 1912) The funeral service of the late of H. J. Snelgrove, who died yesterday morning in St. Michael's Hospital from paralysis of the heart, will be held at 8 o'clock this evening at the family residence, 118 Macpherson Avenue. Interment will take place at Cobourg to-morrow morning. The late Major Snelgrove was well known in military, fraternal and horticultural circles, and though he has been in ill health for some months, news of his death came as a shock to his many friends. For more than thirty years he was a member of the 40th Northumberland Regiment. Among his other connections, he was a member of the Canadian National Exhibition Board, an honorary director of the Ontario Horticultural Society, Secretary Canadian League for Civic Improvement, and a prominent officer of several fraternal organizations. The deceased was born near Coburg, educated at Victoria College, the Cobourg Collegiate Institute, and the University of Toronto. From the latter he held the degrees of M.A. and Ph. D. Following a connection with The Globe, he became editor of The Cobourg World, but resigned that position in 1892. Upon appointment as Governor of the West Northumberland Jail. For the past two years he has been connected with the Toronto Railway Company at the head office. He has been the recipient of the highest honors bestowed by a number of fraternal societies. In politics a Liberal, he was at one time President of the Cobourg Liberal Club and Secretary of the West Northumberland Reform Association. Mr. Snelgrove was in his 55th year. "LATE MAJOR SNELGROVE; Succumbed at St. Michael's Hospital to Paralysis of the Heart. (Dec. 23, 1912) The funeral service of the late of H. J. Snelgrove, who died yesterday morning in St. Michael's Hospital from paralysis of the heart, will be held at 8 o'clock this evening at the family residence, 118 Macpherson Avenue. Interment will take place at Cobourg to-morrow morning. The late Major Snelgrove was well known in military, fraternal and horticultural circles, and though he has been in ill health for some months, news of his death came as a shock to his many friends. For more than thirty years he was a member of the 40th Northumberland Regiment. Among his other connections, he was a member of the Canadian National Exhibition Board, an honorary director of the Ontario Horticultural Society, Secretary Canadian League for Civic Improvement, and a prominent officer of several fraternal organizations. The deceased was born near Coburg, educated at Victoria College, the Cobourg Collegiate Institute, and the University of Toronto. From the latter he held the degrees of M.A. and Ph. D. Following a connection with The Globe, he became editor of The Cobourg World, but resigned that position in 1892. Upon appointment as Governor of the West Northumberland Jail. For the past two years he has been connected with the Toronto Railway Company at the head office. He has been the recipient of the highest honors bestowed by a number of fraternal societies. In politics a Liberal, he was at one time President of the Cobourg Liberal Club and Secretary of the West Northumberland Reform Association. Mr. Snelgrove was in his 55th year.
