Paxton prays the Generals consideration therein, on the principle of his ?Paxton? being an old servant with a numerous family of children. Note: All my info shows John Paxton to be the eldest son of Lieut. Thomas Paxton and at this time was 12 years old. This might seem young for an apprenticeship but the British Navy took boys this young as a matter of tradition and need. In this case, it does not seem to have been approved.
