Lydia was born in 1808 in New York and died in 1872 in Athol. Lydia was mistakenly assigned by several researchers to the Ballard family, based (I believe) on her association with the Norman Ballard family of Picton. I believe that Norman's wife Roxalane was Lydia's older sister. When I obtained Lydia's death certificate, I found her name was McConnell. I later found researchers who were looking for McConnell siblings in PE County with the names: Lydia, Permilla (or Pamilla), Roxy, and Merenus. According to a descendant, these names came from oral histories related by McConnell relatives from New York that Dr. Lynn McConnell had personally interviewed in the 1920s or so. Several researchers suspect that Merenus McConnell (first of PE, then Brighton, later Michigan) is the brother of Lydia and Roxy McConnell, who are likely sisters. There is circumstantial evidence that those listed here are indeed siblings: Roxy, Merenus, and Lydia all are found in the early 1800s in Prince Edward County, Ontario, and seem that they may be linked. Lydia and her husband, James Thompson, were closely associated with the Ballards; Norman prepared James Thompson's will. Lydia named a son Merenus. Eli McConnell and Roxey are named as parents on Merenus Gilbert McConnell's death certificate. I have searched the records in Prince Edward, and found a few clues, but nothing definitive. Eli McConnell is mentioned as signing in support of a teacher contract; Roxy was once associated with the Quakers. Nothing ties them together in the County with Lydia, Roxy, or Merenus (or Permilla). NOTE: Roxalane McConnell (the daughter) is attributed to the Joseph McConnell family but his will clearly established his children and she wasn't one of them. When I contacted the researcher who postulated this, she had no evidence that it was true. My latest clue came from one of your trees: Isaac Storm Platt and Pamilla ? Platt. We have never even found a lead on Pamilla and it seems that she may be a candiate! Her age fits perfectly, she is from the US, and she named one of her children with the middle name McConnell.
