     Stanley Johnson was born on 1 February 1890 at Norwich, Swaffham, England; per GEDCOM of Eric Johnson, June 24 2009.¹ He lived circa 1900 at Ontario; "Stanley came to Canada c.1900 as a Barnardo Boy after the death of his father. At the time of the 1911 Census he was recorded as a Lodger with the family of Arthur and Jessie FOX in Murray Twp., Northumberland Co., ON, Canada. Served as a Private with the 21st Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force, during WWI. (Regimental No. 59519) He was seriously wounded in action, and lost a lung. He was not expected to survive, but managed to prove the medics wrong, and lived to the ripe old age of 80. He clearly suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, however, because he was so difficult to live with that at one point his family attempted to have him committed to a mental hospital. He mellowed in his later years. He signed his Attestation papers in Kingston, ON, on November 5th, 1914, listing his father as next-of-kin, and cabinet maker as his trade.
