Wilkins situation being so close to the waters Edge that all the boats with troops & battoes with provisions and stores had to land there, by the different regiments & corps, Marching & contra Marching, filling his still House & Malt House with sick & wounded, that it was a Military Hospital & Barracks during the war, that it was impossible for him to continue his Lucrative business any longer, by which he has Sustained a very great loss. Likewise, his large still by the soldiers making fires under it to cook was burnt, the bottom out and made unserviceable for Ever. Then 41st, 2d Battalion broke open his store and stole property to a considerable amount, besides Eliakem, Charlotte Willer spoons etc. etc.
His garden destroyed two summers and above 200 Bussell of potatoes, fences, Money, all these having losses, Captain Wilkins having never being able to carry on his former occupation.
