He married (secondly) on July 22, 1844, in Cramahe Township, Northumberland County, Ontario, Canada, to Jane (Wallace) Thompson (born in 1809, in England, died on April 26, 1890, at Detroit, Michigan). She was previously married on August 18, 1841, at Osnabruck, Stormont County, Ontario, to John Thompson. Jane is buried in the Elmwood Cemetery, at Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. Thomas fathered eight children by his first wife and three by his second.
Thomas immigrated to Ontario in 1832 joining his parents and siblings. He owned a farm located at Dundonald, in Cramahe Township, Northumberland County, Ontario.
