"Obituary; Mrs. Laura Courtice; On November 3rd on of the older and highly respected members of Ebenezer community, Mrs. Laura Courtice, passed to rest after a brief illness. Mrs. Courtice had been failing in health but until a week before her death she was able to attend to her household duties. Mrs. Courtice was the widow of the late William Eugene Courtice who was a member of one of the oldest pioneer families in this district and who predeceased her in April 1931. Her two sons mourn her loss. Howard Courtice of Ottawa and Kenneth Courtice who resides in the old home at Courtice. He ronly sister, Mrs. R. H. Nunn, Long Branch, Cal., predeceased her six months previously. Mrs. Courtice, formely Laura Rundle, was born in East Whitby in 1865. In 1887 she was married to William E. Courtice who built the house near Ebenezer Church and Sunday service seldom saw her pew vacant in circumstance permitted her to attend devince service where her presence testified to her fidelity to her Master. This fine Christian character was a real home maker and a true gentlewoman. She was ever a loyal wife and a kind devoted mother with a never failing interest in her family's welfare. The funeral service, conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. C. Smith, was held from the family residence, Courtice, on November 5th and was largely attended. Interment was in Ebenezer Cemetery. The pallbearers were nephews, Clarence Rundle, Herbert Rundle, Elmer Rundle and Lloyd Courtice.
