Dingman's original business experience in the Oil Industry was in Pennsylvania as a very young man. He was also associated with the manufature of Coaster Brakes in Toronto, Ontario. Another venture was his employment with the Scarboro Electric Railway in Toronto for several years. He was also associated with the first company to install electric light in the City of Toronto and other cities. Added to the above, he was one of the partners of Pugsley, Dingman & Co., in Toronto, the manufacturers of Comfort Soap. This first well struck commercial production in May, 1914, which was the beginning of the fantastic oil boom in 1914 in Calgary. Mr. Dingman also organized the Highwood Petroleum Co., later Highwood-Sarcee Oils, which brought in a commercial producer in 1934. Mr. Dingman was still working up until about 2 weeks prior to his death at 85, and had 10 years work planned for the future. His slogan was alway "Carry on, we want and need more crude oil."
