"McDonald-Samons - On Wednesday, Sept. 25, 1907, the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Samons, Dundonald, was the scene of a pleasant event, when at 2:30 p.m. about seventy guests assembed to witness the marriage of Miss Winnie Mabel, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samons, to Harry C. McDonald, of Dundonald. While the strains of the Wedding March were being played by Mrs. Henry Martin, of Brighton, cousin of the bride, the Rev. W. A. Bunner took his place, followed by the groom, who stood in the parlor, with a background of evergreen and white flowers, and awaited the coming of his bride, the who entered leaning on the arm of her father. After the bride had taken her place, handsomely dressed in white crepe de chene and carrying a boquet of lillies of the valley, the minister joined them in holy wedlock. After congratulations all did justice to the dainty and tempting eatables. The bride was the recipient of many valuable presents which bespoke the high esteem in which she was held by her many friends, the groom's present to the bride being a handsome gold bracelet, and from her father a sum of money. At five o'clock the bride reappeared dressed in her travelling suit of grey with white silk waist, grey hat and gloves, and took their leave for Colborne station, accomanied by a few of the friends present, where they took the Westbound train amid showers of rice and good wishes for Cobourg and Rochester. Those from out of town were Mrs. Levi W. Dudley, Whitby; Mr. William J. King and daughter Julia, and Mrs. Hattie Greene, of Port Hope; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Fiske, Burnley; Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bound, Myersburg. Mabel will be missed by her father and mother, who are left alone.
