Emily E. "Emma" King was born on 10 September 1875 at Brighton Twp., Northumberland Co., Ontario; Date Sept 10 1875 per Memorial. Date 1876 & location Ont. per 1921 Census. Date Sep 1887 & locaiton Ont. per 1911 Census. Date 1876 & location Ont. per 1891 Census. Date 1876 & location Ont. per 1881 Census. Date 1880 & location Brighton Twp. per marriage reg'n. Date is 5 days later than death of her mother - not correct. Her mother may have died in child-birth and her birth date should be same as Mary E. Bush's death.
"Emma King born in '75 or '76, whose mother, Mary Eliza, died in 1876, lived for some time with her Uncle David Nelson King. This I remember. Whether she spent her early girlhood there, I cannont say. She married James Ross. - D'Arcy Davidson" per Mildred (King) Beitzel's family history.5,6,7,2,3,8 She appeared on the census of April 1881 at Cramahe Twp., Northumberland Co., Ontario; Age 5 at 1881 Census: see John Bush (grandfather.)9 She appeared on the census of April 1891 at Cramahe Twp., Northumberland Co., Ontario; Age 15 at 1891 Census: see John Bush (grandfather.)10 She appeared on the census of 8 June 1911 at Brighton Twp., Codrington, Northumberland Co., Ontario; Age 24 at 1911 Census: see David Nelson King
Note: Various accounts suggested that Emma King, daughter of Manly, lived for a time with her uncle, David Nelson King, at the farm in Codrington. This Census record would confirm that, although the date of Birth (Sep 1887) is different than we have for her???5 She lived circa 1912 at Brighton Twp., Codrington, Northumberland Co., Ontario; D'Arcy Davidson suggests that Emma lived with David Nelson King in Codrington. This could have been between 1901 (she is not in the David Nelson King census) and 1913 when she married James Ross, who lived just down the road from Codrington. She Maple Syrup Time on King Farm 1912 - Picture !!! The Tweedsmuir Histories of Codrington include a picture entitled "At maple Syrup time on King Farm, 1912". Ross), Ira King (with pipe). Two small boys are Kenneth and Lloyd Ames. Seated: Ollie Ames, Mary Richards & Miss McPhail, Teacher Must get this picture enlarged, digitized!!!! Then in 1883 his wife, Ann, and their four younger children came to St. Thomas. Two books which record Garnett histories are: "A Centrury of St. Thomas Times" 1880-1980, pages 99-101 and "Beneath the Long Grass". I think I have recorded man of the descendants of John D. and Margaret - as well as all of John D.'s and Amelia's - and I 've met and visited many of them. Very interesting!
