  • Birth*: 1836; Athol Twp., Prince Edward Co., Ontario; Per Marriage Register
  • Marriage*: 22 January 1856; Picton Methodist Church, Picton, Ontario; "22 Jan 1856, Sampson Striker, 20, Marysburgh, Phoebe Rankin, 22, Athol, W: John H. Ostrander & Isaac Striker" per Marriages, Picton Methodist Church: 1831-1857, from Ontario Registers CD
" ... V Thomas Rankin Branch ... (2) Phoebe, m. Samson Striker; set. Percy. Issue: Ida & Noble ... " from Pioneer Life on the Bay of Quinte, pg. 711; Principal=Phoebe Rankin
  • Death*: circa 1877; Northumberland Co., Ontario; Disappeared: Gordon Striker of Frankford (April 12, 2001) said that his father recounted the story of Samson Striker. It is believed that Samson was carrying a large sum of money to make a mortgage payment (on Conc 7, Lot 31, West 1/2) in Cobourg where he was also on Jury Duty. He was never seen again and the mortgage payment was not made. A line in the Tweedsmuir Histories of Codrington states " ... Samson Striker, who disappeared while on jury duty in Cobourg." More information about this may be found in Probate documents. Land Registry archives (other than indexes) were not available April 12, 2001 in the Land Registry Office in Cobourg as they are being microfilmed for the Cobourg Public Library as apart of an Ontario Provincial Government project to locate old land documents in local museums and libraries.
