- Note: 9 June 1771; Kent, Litchfield Co., Connecticut, U.S.A.; Cyrus Marsh was 7 months old when his father, Rev. Cyrus Marsh died. His mother, Hannah, married Zebulon Crane and they are shown as executors during the probate of Rev. Marsh's will.

Note: This suggests that the son, Cyrus Marsh, who was born Nov 8 1770, was alive and included in the will. (Dan Buchanan, Apr 10 2022) - Note: circa 1775; Connecticut, U.S.A.; The adults around this child had the habit of dying. His father, Cyrus Marsh, died June 9 1771, within a year of his birth. His mother, Hannah, died in 1777, when he was 6. She had married Zebulon Crane who died in 1789. We might wonder where this child grew up. (Dan Buchanan, Apr 12 2022)
- Note: 15 December 1778; Kent, Litchfield Co., Connecticut, U.S.A.; Cyrus Marsh was just over 6 years old when his mother, Hannah, died Dec 15 1776. She had married Zebulon Crane in 1772, after Rev. Cyrus Marsh died in 1771.
- Note: 24 January 1789; Bedford, Westchester Co., New York, U.S.A.; Cyrus Marsh was 2 months past 18 years of age when his step-father, Zebulon Crane died Jan 24 1789. While Zeb ulon Crane is buried in the Good Hill Cemetery at Kent, records show he died at Bedford, Westchester Co., New York. We might wonder if young Cyrus Marsh grew up with Zeb Crane and his family, or with a siser or other relative. It could be that he was very much on his own at a very early age. Source: LDS and IGI ... Descendants of James McTaggart and Nancy Cooley Website: James McTaggart was born in Galloway, Scotland on August 6, 1754. He sailed on the good ship Gale on May 16, 1774 for the New England Colonies of America and settled on the Mohawk River in Albany County, Province of New York. He joined the Royal Regiment of New York, 2nd Battalion in the year 1780. His discharge certificate gives his parish as Pennerom(?) County of Galloway and his age twenty-nine years. "James McTaggart did serve faithfully the above Regiment for four years. He was discharged as a Corporal of a Provincial Corps at Cataraqui (Kingston) the twenty-fourth day of June 1784". His wife, Nancy Cooley, was born Dec 17, 1759 in Scotland. They married about 1776 and are shown on a muster roll of 1784. "He is shown as having gone for his wife and family and will return." In 1784 they settled in Fredericksburgh Twp. Lot # 4, County of Lennox and Addington, Ontario. In 1806 they settled in Sophiasburgh Twp. Lots # 29 and #30 W.G.P., County of Prince Edward, Ontario. James died July 28, 1843 and Nancy died Oct 8, 1844. Both are buried at Fosters Cemetery near Fish Lake Twp. of Sophiasburgh. The stones are still in good condition. Mrs. Edna (Sam) Adams of Campbellford, Ontario, who as a little girl lived with her aged grandmother Martha (Patty) Parliament has this story from her grandmother: "My mother Nancy said their home had been taken over by the rebels after her husband James had enlisted but she, Nancy, and a negro slave and the two children were allowed the use of the basement kitchen during her husband's absence. James McTaggart found his wife Nancy and the two boys (Samuel and Peter) out gathering wood when he came for them in 1784."
