Note: I have placed this Barnabus Brunson as a son of Orsamus and Dorcas Brunson as an experiment. He did not seem to belong to Barnabus Brunson of the earlier generation since that Barnabus would have been 61 when this Barnabus was born in 1805. Besides, there are not changes in the Census records during that time for the old Barnabus. Orsamus Brunson shows female children in 1803 and 1804 in Percy and it is very likely that Barnabus, born 1805, is their son. If anyone has any better information, please let me know.2,3,4,5,6

Note: Although there is no date info with this record, I am assuming it refers to this Barnabus Brunson, since he was in Seymour and shown to die in Burleigh Twp. Is this right?
Note: It is interesting that CemSearch has no Brunson entries, only Bronson. This does not reflect how the records present this name. Both are used routinely.8
  • Note: circa 1806; Percy Twp., Northumberland Co., Upper Canada; "He was the grandson of Richard Bronson of Farmington, Vermont, who was among the first fifteen hundred Puritans to arrive in America from England in 1630. Mrs. Marjorie McMullen, a descendant of Danial Bronson, another grandson of Richard Bronson, lived near Foxboro, Ontario, and has provided information on 10 generations of the Bronson fmaily history." (This is nunmber 2 under "Endnotes", on page 31 of "Gleanings, A History of Campbellford/Seymour". It refers to the story on page 11 about the old memorial found on the Trent river in 1979 which says on it "Billie Bronson 1781 - 1804; Lost in River". If the dates transcribed from this stone are correct, this young man died when Barnabus Brunson lived in Percy (Conc 2, Lot 24) and just after his grandson, Barnabus Brunson was born in 1806. The bulk of information we have for Brunson/Bronson in this area is from this later Barnabus Brunson. Online GEDCOM's of various researchers give differing lines back to Roger Bronson of England and his two sons, John and Richard who came to New England in the mid-1600's. The one placed here seems to be the best in terms of dates, etc. I would love to see the 10 generations in Mrs. McMullen's information. (Dan Buchanan, April 17 2011))
