- Father*: John Singleton b. Jan 1789, d. 22 Apr 1837
- Mother*: Margaret Canniff b. 4 May 1794, d. 23 Jul 1886
- Birth*: November 1811; Thurlow Twp., Hastings Co., Upper Canada; Date 1812 & location Ont. per 1881 Census. Date 1812 & location Ont. per 1871 Census. Date 1811 & location UC per 1861 Census. Location Ont. per marriage reg'n. of daughter Leonora Helen (Meade) Duncan. Location Thurlow due to info in obit of Mrs. Margaret Singleton in the Ensign says they came to this are April 1815 - so Eliza Ann must have been born in Thurlow before they left.
Note: I have placed this Eliza Ann Singleton with John Singleton and Margaret Canniff because she is clearly connected to this family and dates and locations work. She married Henry Meade of Brighton and their daughter Leonora Helen Meade married Rev. Peter Duncan of Colborne. These people are all together in the A. C. Singleton household for the 1861 Census and Leonora and Peter were married shortly afterward. Also, the 1815 Census shows a female child under 16 in the household of John Singleton. Is this correct???2,4,5,6 - Marriage*: before 1840; Upper Canada; per marriage reg'n. of daughter Leonora Helen (Meade) Duncan.; Principal=Dr. Henry Meade2

- Marriage*: before 1831; per marriage register of son James F. Rolls.; Principal=Anna Maria Dorothea Dahmes6
- Death*: 26 June 1884; Toronto, York Co., Ontario; Date Jun 26 1884 & location Toronto per FindaGrave.5
- Burial*: 28 June 1884; Toronto, York Co., Ontario; FindaGrave: Name: Dr Charles Philip Rolls; Birth: 12 Apr 1809, Melcombe Regis, Weymouth and Portland Borough, Dorset, England; Death: 26 Jun 1884 (aged 75), Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; Burial: Burial Details Unknown; Memorial ID: 272963200; Note: DR. CHARLES PHILIP ROLLS (1809-1883). The fourth child of James Arnold Rolls and Mrs. (Burns) Rolls, Charles Philip was born April 12, 1809, at Weymouth, Dorsetshire, England. After his parents' death, he was sent to relatives, in France, to be educated. He travelled to Canada, possibly, with his older brother, Dr. James Arnold Rolls, (1803-1873.) Records show that on October 24, 1832, he bought a half acre lot in the village of St. Thomas, Upper Canada, (later Ontario.) This property was located on the south side of Talbot Road, (being part of Lot 46) between Centre and Walnut Streets (Yarmouth Township, County of Middlesex, Landon District.) He paid 250 Pounds (Canadian) for the property. Curiously, he bought the property from his brother, Dr. James Arnold Rolls. A deed dated October 22, 1832 shows that Dr. James Arnold Rolls had purchased this same property from a James Clement Crysler for 50 Pounds on July 20, 1832. We do not know why this double transaction took place. Also not known is whether the property included a building. The deed for the above property shows Charles Rolls (age 23) as a "druggist." There is no mention of his being a physician.
ROLLS, CHARLES was born in England on April 12, 1809. According to Seaborn, he was educated in France and obtained his medical degree in England. In 1834 he was granted his Canadian licence, and began to practice in St. Thomas. He moved around a good deal and was listed in Port Burwell, Vienna, St. Catharines, (where Rolls Street is named for him), Niagara-on-the-Lake, (where he attended cholera patients in 1847), and later was in Cobourg. In the 1861 census he was located in New Hamburgh. He was said to be 51 years of age, with two children. There is no further information regarding his length of stay in this area.
