I wonder. The John Ryckman I see here is the younger of three brothers, Tobias and Jacob are older. These two older brothers are clearly shown living in Murray Township on Lot 10 & 11, Conc 2, from 1811 through the 1840s. John Ryckman begins to appear in the records in 1821 with a young family and is there, right beside Tobias and Jacob, until he sold the land in 1848. None of them are around Murray after 1850 and are therefore hard to track down. But, in regard to John, the census and land records are very clear in suggesting that he is one of the three brothers shown in the Early Ontario Loyalists list with their mother in 1785 at Adolphustown. They may have been in Prince Edward County for a few years, where there were lots of relatives settling, before coming up to Murray. It is also interesting to note that it was Philip Ryckman, their uncle, who obtained Patents for the land in Murray where they would settle. He sold parts of it to all three - Tobias, Jacob and John. So, which John Ryckman is this? Good question. For now, I am providing the info that is found on most trees that have anything for this person. I'd love to see some documents to support the various pieces, such as a marriage record, baptism for the guy who married Sarah Carpenter and maybe something re his death.
