The Belden Altas shows "Lot 17" on this lot.6 He lived in 1823 at Hillier Twp., Prince Edward Co., Upper Canada; Hillier Township was organized in 1823, so references to The Stinson Block before that should use Ameliasburgh Township. He "A paper which quite recently came into the possession of Dgfvid Boyle, curator of the Ontario aijtetifeological museum, shows that in 1839 Lieut. John P. Rohlin, and Capt. Thomas Fiagler." from Death Notice of Reuben Young. in 1839 at Ameliasburgh Twp., Prince Edward Co., Upper Canada. He "Captain John Young, as President, and Lieutenant Reuben Young, with Captain Charles Biggar, Captain John P. Roblin and Captain Thomas Flagler, comprised the members of a famous court- martial held to try aliens or delinquents in Prince Edward county. A document, now yellow with age, and which has recently come under the notice of the curator of the Ontario Archaeological Museum, describes the proceedings of the court-martial, and is judged well deserving of a place in the records connected with the early military history of Ontario. It narrates that, on June 20th, 1839, the trial of certain "aliens or delinquents" belonging to the 2nd Regiment of Prince Edward Militia, was held in the house of Thomas G. McGrath, in the village of Consecon. Some thirty-five persons were tried, many of whom were convicted or mulcted in various amounts. The fines amounted to £11 14s; but the expenses of the trial came to about half that sum. The fee allowed for summoning witnesses was not extravagant; it was five York shillings, or sixty-two and a half cents, at present currency." from pages 998 & 999 of Pioneer Life on the Bay of Quinte. on 20 June 1839 at Consecon, Prince Edward Co., Upper Canada.7 He died on 25 February 1847 at Hillier Twp., Prince Edward Co., Canada West, at age 64; Date Feb 25 1847 & location Carrying Place per family tree of John Hicks on ancestry.ca, Jan 19 2021. per family tree of gary9236 on ancestry.ca, Jan 29 2021.
Note: It could be that John Young died when he was at the Carrying Place, but this may simply be a general area researchers are using, without more specific information. After looking at this family more closely, I think it is more likely that he died at home with his family in Hillier Township. Lot 17, part of the Stinson Block. This was a bit south and west of Consecon, near Huyck Point. His wife was Catherine Huyck, a name that was common in this area during the rest of the 1800s. The land department says in Robert Young's case that this lot 4 had been applied for by his father, for Robert Jr. but the paperwork had not been completed.
