Surgeon, John Mr. Surgeon, Father (?Thomas)1) was born Bet. Jan - Oct 1760 in Withycombe Hall, SOM, ENG, and died 31 Jan 1827 in Trois Rivieres, QC., CAN. He married Mary Wood 25 Sep 1780 in St. Mary's Church, Nettlecombe, SOM, ENG, daughter of Father Wood. She was born 1759 in ENG, and died 20 Dec 1850 in Trois Rivieres, St. Maurice, QC., CAN; Robert Quircke Question Short was baptized in St. Michael's church in Minehead, October of 1760. As baptisms were the only official record of someone's birth in England, there is only this record to go by. A child was usually baptized a month or so after their birth so it would be safe to say, that he was probably born between July & October of 1760. He was born in Withycombe Hall, Withycombe, Somerset, England. This birth place is according to statements made by the Rev. Short in later years and by family members. Withycombe is 5 miles from Minehead and is a beautiful place, at the time, farming was done there.
