Note: This is the first of many transactions where Elijah W. Meyers sold small lots of land in what was developing into the town of Trent Port, later called Trenton. This is on the west side of the river, West of Front St., and north of Dundas St. Here is the essence of the land grant policy of the British Government in Upper Canada. Land that happened to have a town develop on it would make a few folks very rich. It was a good way to develop an elite society along the lines of that in England at the time.
