An official telegram from Ottawa on Monday, 27th inst., to his father, Mr. Albert Richardson, stated: "Deeply regret to inform you Private Frank Delbert Richardson, No. 8361, 12th, formerly of the 2nd Battalion, was officially reported killed in action on March 15th. (Signed) Adjutant-General.
Word quickly spread throughout the town, causing universal regret for the loss of a young man held in high esteem, who had exemplified true valor and given his life for his country and the citizens of his home town. The Union Jack was placed at half-mast on the town Hall as a token of respect for a worthy Canadian who fell in upholding the traditions of that flag of justice and liberty. Private Richardson bad been at the front for over a year, and was an exemplary soldier. He was in his 23rd year.
