Binkley's Funderal Service was in charge of arrangements. Victoria Speirs was bron in Peterborough County, Ont., on June 24, 1876. Her marriage to Robert Cowie took place in Peterborough in 1897and she and her husband came west in 1910 when they homesteaded four miles west of Shaunavon. They later farmed in the Instow district and returned to establish a dairy farm adjacent t othe west boundary of the townsite in 1923. She lived there until her death. Mrs. Cowie was an ardent member of the First Baptist Church and was the first president of the Baptist Mission Circle in Shaunavon. Predeceased by her husband and one son Lawrence in 1959, she is survived by one son, Edwin, of Shaunavon, and two brothers, Archive Speirs, Shaunavon and Harvey Speirs of Calgary, as well as seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren."
