Note: Rachel Gerow's name appears to have been written in above the name of George H. (or A) Gerow which is clearly stroked through. The letter M is clearly stroked through and F written above it. There is no double age entry or any other along the line. This may mean that George was thought at first to be living with the family but he was not and the registrar had to make a correction. We can only guess. It may suggest that George, who would be 16, was working away from the home of his mother, sisters and step-father.² He lived in April 1871 at Conc 3 Lot 119, Artemesia Twp., South Grey Co., Ontario; Residence per 1871 Census: Conc 3, Lot 119, 50 acres.
