He appeared on the census of 1851 at Blanshard Twp., Perth Co., Ontario; Age 40 at 1851 Census: see Thomas Fotheringham (brother) Name is not very clear, seems like James. Need more re this one.1 He lived on 1 July 1854 at Con 16 Lot 11, Blanshard Twp., Perth Co., Ontario; Land Registry Records (320)show that James Fotheringham purchased 61 1/2 acres of the north half of Lot 11, Concession 16, Blanshard Twp. for 54 pounds ten shillings from The Canada Company. He James Fotheringham is clearly mentioned in the 1851 Census and Land Registry Records and this is the only James that fits this time-frame and location. Was he here for a few years and then went home to Scotland? In 1855. He appeared on the census of 1881 at Newbiggings, Kirkwall, Orkney, Scotland; 1881 Census at Newbiggings, Kirkwall and St. Olla, Orkney with brother William (Per Whitton File, March 4, 2002.)
