Probably Leicester], MA, and dying: 15 Dec. 1831 [ae c. 67]; Hallowell Twp, Ont., Canada. There were ten children. Solomon Thompson md Polly [Mary] Smith, d/o Nathaniel Smith and Lucy Lynde. Lucy Lynde [bc May 27, 1741; dc Aft. 1772] d/o Samuel Lynde and Mary Lamb md Nathaniel Smith [bc Sep 16, 1738; dc Aft. 1772], c. Aug 14, 1762 at Leicester, Worcester, MA. At some point it appears that they may have removed to Guilford, VT and then disappeared, although this has become increasingly doubtful. A Nath'l Smith, wife and 5 children are noted in Guilford NY/VT 1772 Census at [but there is no guarantee that this is the correct Nathaniel Smith...it is just circumstantial, so far. Only one child found, Mary "Polly" Smith [bc 1764; dc. Dec 15, 1831], who md Solomon Thompson [bc Nov 23, 1760; dc Aug 03, 1825] of Brimfield, MA; mdc Jul 13, 1786; in Brimfield, MA. Pvt. Solomon Thompson was of the lineage of the Woburn Thompsons, father James and mother Mary Hancock [the widow Hitchcock, wife of Nathaniel Hitchcock] Solomon traces his roots back to the original James Thomson of the Winthrop Fleet arriving prior to 1633. The Thompsons were active participants in the Revolution, at all levels of the conflict. It may be, that the Smiths, returned to MA, but they cannot be found as of yet.
